OBITUARY

John Brown was hanged after being charged for treason, murder and insurrection.

John Brown was a courageous man who went through a lot of financial difficulty throughout his life.  He was a powerful abolitionist, who believed in the use of violence to end slavery.  He worked hard to free the slaves and was very deterimined in doing so.  We see this determination in his raid on Harper's Ferry.  Though it was an unsuccessful raid, its effects did a great job in shaking the nation.

Before his execution, Brown had given a note to his jailer stating: " I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilt land will never be oruged away; but with Blood."
